Dining room

we have been going non-stop this summer. I think we have been home 6 days in the past 3-4 weeks. CRAZY! I am also going crazy not finishing my home. There is still sooo much to do. I am loving this dining table and chairs. I keep going back to this again and again. Monday we will hopefully be back in the swing of things for a short while. Two things for today-I am crazy for baby legs---the cutest leg warmers for any age child. Lucys 1st birthday is 5 months away, but my mom is already getting ready for it. We are searching for a perfect table and chairs for Lucy. I think I have decided on this number from PB. I LOVE the paper you can roll out and draw on.I can't wait for all the handscribbled pictures of mommy that look nothing like me.

My friend Fab sent me a link to this precious website. Although this apron would have to be worn with parental monitering(it has slots to hold crayolas) I would have LOVED this as a little girl. I will buy anything for Lucy to get her mind thinking creative!!!!

Irish Steel Cut Oats

Our First Fall

Well it had to happen at some point......Lucy falling off a bed that is. As I was preparing dinner last night my sweet husband took our daughter upstairs to give her a bath. A few moments later I hear a high pitched scream and the sound of my husbands foot prints running across the floor. Total accident.......he had to use the restroom and left her on the twin bed with a pillow on top of her to hold her in place:) not such a good idea since she rolls, scoots, and rocks!! I kept calm while running up the stairs noting in my mind that whatever has happened it was not on purpose, it could have been me so don't react or lash out. She was pretty upset but with a little love and cuddling we were all back to normal.

Ok I have seen these pop up so many times and I keep thinking about them. You put them in a box in a convienant location and write a note when your child does something new, has a accident, funny etc....so many of those little moments pass by its so important to write down then add to a scrapbook or something!

Eating my big toe and a bath with mom

Today was a sleepy rain filled day. We started off the day making banana cupcakes to take to Ryan at work. Lucy loved eating her big toe and taking a bath with mom. Rainy days make for great naps. Tonight we had hot bowls full of rice and citrus chicken stir fry. If the wind blows my internet does not work so I was without a computer for most of the day

This is Truly a favorite of mine!! Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies!! With Lucy playing, a good cup of morning coffe, I quickly made this no fail, easy, quick recipe!! Looks like more cookies for tree trimmers and my husband to take to work. I can't keep them in the house....i have no self control when it comes to sweets...tee hee:)

1/2 pound (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1teaspoon baking soda
1teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
3 cups Quaker® Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1 chocolate chips

Preparation Steps
Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, beat margarine and sugars until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; mix well. Add oats and chocolate chips; mix well.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered.

Binders, baking and voting

Today was a busy day! I worked on organizing my binders (I had fallen a little behind) I have seperate binders for all the pages I tear out of magazines. I have one for home,food,fashion and self(health) I have nice plastic sleeves to protect all my sheets and I LOVE my binders!

I also made cookies and doubled the recipe(lots of dough)-I have been baking since last night.Ryan took cookies to work, I gave some to friends, even the men trimming my trees out back each took home a plate full of cookies.

Lastly I went to vote in the primarys! Voting is such a privledge! I never take it for granted!

A must book!!

I am so excited!! I love this guy!! If anyone saw him on Oprah I'm sure you loved him too. He reveals how to create and entertain in an inviting home. He is so prepared and organized....when on the oprah show one of his ideas was to have pre wrapped gifts in his closet to use when needed. A bottle of wine ready to take to a host, a candle for a housewarming gift. This is something that I am really trying to stay on top of and it has made things a lot easier for me. I feel prepared for birthdays etc. Another aweseome idea of his is when it comes to drinks, Colin also has a special system. Whenever he gets a bottle of wine from someone as a gift, he writes their name on the bottle. Then, at another day in time when he drinks the wine, he either sends them a thank you note the next day, or at minimum, raises a toast to them. How great it that! You can't view inside the book(bummer) but mark my words....he is awesome. He is borderline CRAZY with how organized he is....but you can get some great ideas!!Katie if you are reading...I know you love him!!! Check out the reviews-I cant wait to read it

I must say I am highly impressed with the podee bottle. I bought it on amazon out of curiosity. When I first used it I thought ok whats the big hype and put it in a drawer-hasn't been touched........until today when Lucy has been on a hunger strike because she is sick and won't eat. This is stressful for a mom when your child will not eat. This bottle finally worked wonders for us. She loves to suck on her pacifier and finally drank some fluids through her magic pacifier. She slept in bed with us last night-got as close to me as she could. I kept trying to roll her away so I could get some rest, but she would roll right back and nestle up to me. As much as i wanted sleep, there is nothing more precious than your childs snotty nose open mouthed breathing, little fingers pressed on your face & sleeping peacefully on you. You have to cherish those little moments and forget about sleep!!To top off the bad night I boiled the pacifier bottle after she used it and got busy...forgot about it....all the water boiled away and I melted the plastic.....hmmmm....thats all i have to say about that right now

With these amazing blocks by Parents. They are soft, have great visuals for learning, and the best thing of all is they have inserts in the middle of the block that come out..like a rattle or tube with a ball in it. They are so great. My favorite toy purchase by far. It is tempting to get all toys that stimulate with lights and sounds, but I am all about old school toys. Love these!

Organization is my thing

I cannot function in a disorganized home. I have noticed my binders getting a little out of whack and think these binders will be awesome for what I need. I keep seperate binders of fashion, home, workout/health and recipes. Mine are from office depot, but these are so much better. I could have a color for each category. It gives me somewhere to store all my favorite magazine pictures and articles without holding on to the whole magazine. And it is mandatory to put each page in a clear plastic page to protect it. Love my binders!!

I used to live in my sorority t-shirts......but married and a baby later those shirts are stored away. I still love a great t-shirt and these abejas (bee) shirts are so great with a pair of jeans in the spring. I love these!!!

For christmas my brother gave Lucy her first little hippie shirt.(1st photo) I cant wait for her to wear it this spring with her bubble jean shorts.Right now I am just layering it under white long sleeve shirts. So cute!

My favorite lip gloss! I'm a gloss not lipstick kind of girl. My friend Kelly introduced me to this fabulous mint lip gloss from bath and body works. It gives great shine and smells refreshing too....like you have a mint on your lips.I think this line may have some body products too. Maybe some mint shamoo or body scrub? I will have to try

This is my all time favorite line of home fragrance. I always have a bottle of casablanca in my home. Everyone who smells it loves it. I have yet to know someone who does not like it. I am real weird about smells (get headaches easily) these is a crowd pleaser!! A little pricy but well worth it and they last a long time too!

Afternoon Snack

So I had to capture my afternoon snack. I love to eat- eat about 5-6 times a day. This month I have gotten serious about loosing that last 5 pounds of baby weight that just linger. So for a sweet afternoon snack I had strawberries with light whip cream(hardly any calories or fat) and a warm cup of green tea. Hit the spot!!

Rolling coffe tables

My favorite purchase to our home this far is my 2 rolling coffe tables. I love the wheels on them!! They really add some interest to our living room, and we love rolling them up to eat dinner on or rolling them out of the way to lay on the ground a let Lucy roll.

This book was a must for me. It gives advice on everything that you could think of for your wedding. All those questions like how to address your formal invitations,how to orgaznize your ceramony etc. Her website is great for weddings or etiquite in general. I probably need a refreshing myself!
